What’s the difference between FreeBSD and OpenBSD, and which one would you prefer?

How do FreeBSD and OpenBSD compare to each other, and which one do you personally recommend?

OpenBSD is very security oriented, even more so than other Unices. FreeBSD is performance-oriented. Since security, in the sense that OpenBSD provides it, is not as important to desktop usage as performance, I would choose FreeBSD, or one of it’s derivatives, like PC-BSD.
