AirPods models laid out

The latest Windows 11 Dev build has lots of fabulous new goodies, including a feature that’ll make your calls sound better when you’re using Apple AirPods. We didn’t expect to find a feature specially designed to enhance an Apple product in Windows 11, but that’s just what we got.

In a blog post announcing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22526 to the Dev Channel, Microsoft said, “We have added support for wideband speech when using Apple AirPods products (AirPods, AirPods Pro, or AirPods Max), improving audio quality for voice calls.”

That means that Microsoft will make it so voice calls sound better when using AirPods on Windows 11, which is excellent for anyone who has to take a lot of remote meetings or make calls through their PC. Even if you use your AirPods to play games, this update will come in handy.

Wideband speech is also called HD voice, and it offers a broader frequency range than traditional calling techniques, which will make your calls sound clearer.

This feature is currently in the Dev build for Windows 11, which means it’ll take some time before it makes its way to the release version of Microsoft’s OS. Typically, a feature goes from Dev to Beta and finally, to Release. If you want to try it now, you can switch to the Dev channel, but be prepared for the issues that come with using prerelease software.
