Humax is first out of the gates with a Freeview Play box

Humax has become the first manufacturer to launch a set-top box with the Freeview Play catch-up portal on board.

The Humax FVP-4000T is now available in stores, coming in cappuccino and mocha colour options with either 500GB or 1TB of built-in storage.

Freeview Play is an aggregator for on-demand services, bringing together BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, All 4 and Demand 5 in a single place.

The FVP-4000T brings it to your telly via an Ethernet or WiFi, hooking up to your set through HDMI, with inputs for composite, optical, RF loopthrough and USB.

Humax has confirmed that it has reached an agreement with Netflix to bring its subscription-based movie and TV streaming service to the box early next year.

The Humax FVP-4000T is now available to purchase from high street retailers, including John Lewis, Argos and Tesco, with the 500GB model costing £199.99 and the 1TB version priced at £229.99.
