LG G5 announcement may be behind this MWC 2016 invite

LG-G4-off1

All of the LG G5 rumors so far point to an earlier-than-normal release date, and the company’s MWC 2016 invite is certainly backing up this theory.

LG sent us a vague invite today, inviting members of the media to an event on February 21. It simply states, “Play Begins” with a mysterious jack-in-the-box music player in the background.

There’s no official confirmation that the LG G5 is going to be announced in Barcelona next month, but last year in February, the Samsung Galaxy S6 andHTC One M9 did get a jumpstart of LG G4’s April 2015 launch.

There’s no use in letting that happen again if the Samsung Galaxy S7 and HTC One M10 show up for their annual refresh cycle.

There’s also no telling what the music box or “Play Begins” means either. We’re hoping for a more music-friendly LG flagship with front-facing speakers, sort of like what’s rumored for iPhone 7.

LG G5 specs

There have been plenty of leaks regarding the LG G5 specs, which indicate that this flagship phone is nearing, and so far we’re liking what we’re hearing from unofficial channels.

It may debut the Snapdragon 820 processor in an Android Marshmallow phone and come with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, according to the latest LG G5 rumors.

That display is anywhere from 5.3 to 5.6 inches, depending on who you ask. It’ll likely be quad HD (or 2K) again, but it could crank up the pixels for a rare 4K phone display like the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium.

LG’s already impressive camera could get even better with faster performance and the chance that it’ll inherit the 120-degree wide LG V10’s dual selfie camera, a feature should really be in all phones.

We’ll be on the ground in Barcelona, reviewing every inch and every megapixel of the LG G5, if it happens to be what the company is hinting at.
