The rise of 4K is in full swing, and the world’s first 4K smartphone has just rocked up in the UK thanks to GiffGaff.

Not limiting the visual delights of 4K to the living room, the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium packs a 5.5-inch 4K Triluminos display of its own. The result? Unrivalled on-the-move picture quality. Well, at least in theory.

Having been formally unveiled back in September, the Z5 Premium is now available on a £26.29 per month contract, or SIM-free for a wallet-busting £599.

While this lofty price tag sounds a lot – and it is – it’s not much more than the similarly specced but 4K-deprived standard Xperia Z5.

Screen aside, the Z5 Premium plays host to a mass of high-end internals.

Powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor and 3GB of RAM, the Premium features the same – industry leading – 23-megapixel camera as its smaller siblings.
